PHILosophers Discussing Art
In my series, Polite Conversations: Philosophers Discussing Art, I talk to other philosophers working in aesthetics and the philosophy of art about a wide range of topics, from whether Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is country or hip hop to whether we should enjoy the work of immoral artists, from what we get out of arguing about art to whether Black Sabbath without Ozzy Osbourne is really Black Sabbath.
You can read about my motivations and aims for the series, along with summaries and reading lists for the first 23 episodes, at Aesthetics for Birds (link). The full list (with links) is below.
As part of the series, I've done a miniseries called Nothing New? | The Philosophy of Taylor's Versions (episodes 27-31 & 33-36). I talk to eight philosophers and one music producer about the metaphysical, legal, aesthetic, political, and moral implications of Taylor Swift re-recording her first six studio albums.
